Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Construction Buyer on behalf of our client, a successful and growing construction company based in Luton. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing construction materials, plant, equipment, and services while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Therefore, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional looking to play a key role within a dynamic and expanding business.
Location: Luton
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000+ per annum (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement of construction materials, plant, tools, and services
- Source, assess, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best value and quality
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supplier performance
- Work closely with project managers to understand project requirements and delivery schedules
- Ensure materials are delivered to site on time to support project deadlines
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and procurement documentation
- Resolve procurement issues and supplier queries efficiently
- Review procurement processes to improve cost efficiency and compliance
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Construction Buyer or Procurement Specialist within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and procurement processes
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Experience using procurement software and Microsoft Office applications
- Analytical approach with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to cost management
