Newstaff Employment is hiring a practical and organised Science Technician in Buckinghamshire to support a busy secondary school science department; in this role, you will prepare laboratory equipment, maintain safety standards and ensure practical lessons run smoothly and efficiently.

Salary: £29,250 – £33,160 per annum (equivalent competitive hourly rate)
Working Hours: To be confirmed

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, materials and solutions; therefore, practical lessons run safely and on time
- Support teachers and students during experiments while following CLEAPSS and school health and safety procedures
- Maintain, repair and organise scientific apparatus, chemicals and storage areas
- Carry out risk assessments, safety inspections and PAT testing to ensure compliance
- Monitor stock levels, place orders and check deliveries accurately
- Maintain detailed records of equipment, chemicals and departmental resources
- Provide general departmental support, including displays, cleaning equipment and assisting SEND pupils when required
- Liaise with supply staff, neighbouring schools and external organisations to coordinate resources
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous laboratory or school science experience preferred
- Strong understanding of health and safety within a lab setting
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Clear communication skills when working with staff and pupils
- Flexible and reliable approach within a busy school environment
