Newstaff Employment is hiring a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher in Milton Keynes to cover maternity leave from February until the end of the academic year, where you will lead a vibrant class and deliver engaging lessons that build strong foundations in early learning.

Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Full-Time
Job Type: Maternity Cover (February – End of Academic Year)

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for teaching a Year 1 class throughout the contract
• Plan, deliver and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum
• Create a positive and engaging classroom environment so pupils feel confident and motivated
• Track progress regularly; as a result, you adapt teaching to support individual needs
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
• Work closely with the wider team to maintain high teaching standards

Essential Skills & Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
• Strong understanding of phonics and early years development
• Confident classroom management skills
• Ability to inspire young learners and build their confidence
• Team-focused approach with excellent communication skills
