Newstaff Employment Agency in Luton is currently recruiting 7.5 Tonne Drivers for ongoing trunking work based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. This professional driving role involves operating a 7.5T (Category C1) vehicle to transport goods between depots and complete deliveries safely and efficiently. We are looking for dependable drivers who can maintain high standards of road safety, follow transport schedules and complete the necessary vehicle checks and documentation. Previous 7.5-tonne driving experience would be advantageous.

Salary: £15.00 per hour plus accrued holiday pay

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a 7.5-tonne vehicle on scheduled trunking routes.
• Transport goods safely between depots and distribution locations.
• Follow allocated routes and transport schedules.
• Complete daily vehicle walkaround and safety checks.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects before starting each journey.
• Report vehicle faults or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Ensure goods and loads are correctly secured before departure.
• Follow appropriate loading and unloading safety procedures.
• Complete delivery paperwork and transport documentation accurately.
• Maintain accurate tachograph and driving records.
• Comply with drivers’ hours and working time regulations.
• Follow UK road traffic laws and company transport procedures.
• Communicate effectively with transport planners and depot staff.
• Report delivery delays or operational issues when required.
• Handle transported goods carefully to prevent damage.
• Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle.
• Demonstrate professional driving standards at all times.
• Ensure punctual arrivals and departures between depots.
• Follow company health and safety procedures.
• Support the efficient running of daily transport operations.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Valid UK Category C1 (7.5 Tonne) driving licence.
• Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good knowledge of UK road traffic regulations.
• Understanding of drivers’ hours and tachograph requirements.
• Confidence driving 7.5-tonne commercial vehicles.
• Ability to complete vehicle safety checks.
• Knowledge of safe load securing procedures.
• Good understanding of transport and delivery documentation.
• Ability to follow trunking routes and delivery schedules.
• Strong awareness of road safety and professional driving standards.
• Good timekeeping and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A reliable, punctual and professional attitude.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of vehicle and load safety.

Previous experience driving 7.5-tonne vehicles is advantageous, particularly in trunking, depot-to-depot transport, or distribution operations.
