Buyer (Construction) – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Buyer in Luton to join a successful construction company and manage the procurement of materials, tools, and services to support project delivery.
Location: Luton
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 per annum + negotiable depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 am – 5:00 pm
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing process for construction materials, tools, and services
- Source and evaluate suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable service
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements
- Monitor market trends and supplier performance
- Work closely with project managers to understand material requirements
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing data, and supplier details
- Ensure materials are delivered on time to meet project schedules
- Review procurement procedures to improve efficiency and compliance
- Resolve supplier issues, delays, and discrepancies promptly
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist within construction
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
- Good knowledge of construction materials, pricing, and procurement processes
- Proficient with procurement systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical skills with a data-led decision-making approach
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Detail-focused with strong commercial awareness
