Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Estimator (Construction) in Luton to join a growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of tendering and pricing activity while supporting a range of exciting construction projects.

Location: Luton
Salary: £60,000 to £80,000 per year + negotiable depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documents carefully.
• Attend pre-tender and project meetings to understand scope, timelines, and requirements.
• Liaise with project managers, surveyors, architects, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
• Source and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure value and competitiveness.
• Identify project risks, cost pressures, and potential savings opportunities.
• Build and maintain pricing databases for labour, materials, and subcontract packages.
• Use estimating software to create clear reports and tender submissions.
• Ensure all estimates comply with current regulations, standards, and company procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction sector.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing structures.
• Good knowledge of contracts, tendering, and industry regulations.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.
• Confident using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders at once.
• Membership of a professional body such as RICS is helpful but not essential.
