Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Handyman in Luton to support maintenance operations across three properties. This is a varied role where you will complete repairs, grounds upkeep, inspections, and general site support while working independently and efficiently.
Location: Luton
Salary: £35,000 per year + benefits
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance checks across three properties.
- Complete basic repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, decorating, and general DIY tasks.
- Respond quickly and professionally to maintenance requests.
- Keep accurate records of completed maintenance work and repairs.
- Ensure all work meets current health and safety standards.
- Complete internal and external window cleaning within safe working practices.
- Carry out monthly health and safety audits.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing lawns, weeding, pruning, and flower bed upkeep.
- Receive deliveries and manage incoming post.
- Drive the minibus when required.
- Spend 3 days based in the Luton office and 2 days completing on-site property assessments.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in maintenance support, handyman work, or grounds maintenance.
- Good practical skills across general building repairs and upkeep.
- Confident using hand tools and power tools safely.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with practical problem-solving skills.
- Flexible approach to changing daily priorities.
Desirable Qualifications
- City & Guilds qualifications.
- Time-served apprenticeship.
- Health & Safety in the Workplace Certificate Level 2 or Level 3.
- NVQ in Construction or a related trade.
- Current First Aid certificate.
