Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced HGV Class 2 Flatbed Driver on behalf of our client based in Great Barford, Bedford. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering goods safely and professionally while operating a Class 2 flatbed vehicle. Therefore, this is an excellent opportunity to secure ongoing work with the potential to move into a permanent position with a well-established company that invests in its employees.
Location: Great Barford, Bedford
Salary: £17.00 – £18.50 per hour (Agency) | £38,000 – £40,000 per annum upon securing a permanent position
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:00 am – 6:00 am start times (average 10.5-hour days)
Job Type: Temp to Perm

Key Responsibilities
- Drive HGV Class 2 flatbed vehicles safely and efficiently
- Deliver goods to customers across planned routes
- Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections before each shift
- Secure loads correctly and ensure they are transported safely
- Complete delivery paperwork and driver records accurately
- Provide excellent customer service at every delivery
- Follow all road transport, health and safety, and company procedures
- Keep vehicles clean and report any defects promptly
Essential Skills & Experience
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous Class 2 driving experience is essential
- Flatbed driving experience is advantageous but not essential
- Good understanding of road transport and load restraint procedures
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
Desirable Skills
- IPAF licence would be an advantage
- Candidates without an IPAF licence will be considered, as full training can be provided for the right individual
