Injection Mould Toolmaker / Engineer – Stevenage

Newstaff Employment is recruiting a skilled Injection Mould Toolmaker / Engineer to join a busy and established engineering team in Stevenage. You will manufacture, modify, repair, and maintain injection mould tools using modern technology while working within a newly fitted toolroom.

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum + benefits
Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and maintain injection mould tools accurately and efficiently.
  • Modify and repair existing mould tools when required.
  • Operate CNC machines, lathes, and milling machines to manufacture tooling components.
  • Operate CNC wire erosion equipment.
  • Assemble, test, and modify moulds to ensure they meet required quality standards.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on injection mould tooling.
  • Diagnose tooling problems and complete appropriate repairs.
  • Use hand tools, including files, hacksaws, and grinders.
  • Operate lathes and other machining equipment safely and accurately.
  • Wire hot runner systems and carry out fault finding.
  • Work closely with engineering and production colleagues to improve tooling processes.
  • Document tooling specifications, modifications, and production processes accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of quality throughout all toolmaking activities.
  • Follow company health and safety procedures within the toolroom and wider manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • You have proven experience as an Injection Mould Toolmaker / Engineer or within a similar toolmaking position.
  • Ideally, you have approximately four years of relevant toolmaking experience.
  • You hold an NVQ or equivalent qualification in Toolmaking, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • You have a strong understanding of injection moulding processes and tooling.
  • You are confident operating CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment.
  • You have experience maintaining, repairing, and modifying injection mould tools.
  • You have strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • You demonstrate excellent attention to detail and can work to precise specifications.
  • You can work effectively both independently and as part of an engineering team.
  • You understand relevant health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CNC wire erosion and hot runner systems would be highly advantageous.
