Junior Estimator (Construction) – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring an ambitious Junior Estimator in Luton to support construction project costing; in this role, you will analyse drawings, assist with tenders and build strong commercial skills while working closely with senior estimators and project managers.
Location: Luton
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent

Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings and specifications carefully; therefore, you identify all cost elements accurately
- Assist in compiling data on materials, labour and time requirements so estimates remain realistic and competitive
- Support senior estimators with value engineering initiatives to improve cost efficiency
- Prepare quantity take-offs and price breakdowns with precision
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate quotations
- Maintain a structured database of estimates and project costs for future reference
- Learn and use estimating software effectively to produce clear and detailed reports
- Contribute to tender preparation meetings so the team submits competitive bids
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong interest in construction, estimating or quantity surveying
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Analytical mindset with strong numerical skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communication skills when working with suppliers and colleagues
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn within a fast-paced environment
