Quantity Surveyor / Estimator – Luton

Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator in Luton to join a successful and growing construction business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional who enjoys managing costs, improving margins, and helping deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Location: Luton
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000+ per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for a range of construction projects.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Complete quantity take-offs and analyse labour and material costs.
• Work with project teams to identify risks and reduce cost exposure.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
• Maintain accurate records for estimates, variations, and contract changes.
• Monitor project financial performance and report on budget variances.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
• Keep up to date with market trends, materials, and construction regulations.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or similar role within construction.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field is preferred but not essential.
• Experience using estimating or quantity surveying software.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Knowledge of contract law and construction regulations would be an advantage.
