Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our client, a successful and growing construction business based in Luton. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and supporting construction projects from tender through to completion. Therefore, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional looking to join a business that offers genuine career progression and long-term development.
Location: Luton
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000+ per annum (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and project budgets
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Complete accurate quantity take-offs for labour and materials
- Monitor project costs and report on budget performance
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards
- Negotiate prices with subcontractors and suppliers
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, and project variations
- Work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors throughout each project
- Help identify project risks and support effective cost control
- Keep up to date with construction methods, materials, and industry regulations
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes
- Experience preparing detailed cost estimates and project budgets
- Good knowledge of quantity surveying and estimating software
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of construction contracts and regulations would be advantageous
