SEN Supply Teaching Assistants – Luton, Bedfordshire

Newstaff Employment is hiring SEN Supply Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, and specialist SEN provisions throughout Luton and the surrounding areas. These roles involve supporting children with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and learning difficulties. Therefore, this is a fantastic opportunity for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants looking for flexible work, varied experience, or a route into a long-term support role.

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire
Salary: £90 – £110 per day (depending on experience and assignment)
Working Hours: Flexible

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs both inside and outside the classroom
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
  • Help pupils access learning activities and classroom tasks
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and positive engagement
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies and individual support plans
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential
  • Experience working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is highly desirable
  • Patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Reliable, professional, and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
