SEND and SEMH Support Staff – Luton

Newstaff Employment is hiring dedicated SEND and SEMH Support Staff in Luton to support children and young people across schools and alternative provisions in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Location: Various schools and alternative provisions across Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire
Salary: £14 to £17 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Working Hours: Full-time, part-time, temporary, and long-term opportunities available
Job Type: Flexible education support roles

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Support students with learning, emotional regulation, and behaviour strategies
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Promote positive engagement and inclusion within the classroom
  • Implement Individual Education Plans and behaviour support strategies
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support safeguarding and student wellbeing at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, care, youth work, or similar settings is desirable
  • Understanding of SEND and/or SEMH needs, including ASD, ADHD, anxiety, and behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK

Furthermore, if you have lived outside the UK for more than six months within the past ten years, you will also need to provide an overseas police good conduct check.
