Industrial Sewing Operator

£13.00 per hour to start | Full-time | Monday–Friday | No weekends

We are currently recruiting for an Industrial Sewing Operator to join our client’s manufacturing team, producing high-quality fabric and leather covers

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with previous industrial sewing experience, or a strong sewing background who is looking to develop their skills within a specialist manufacturing environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for operating industrial sewing machines to produce covers to a high standard of quality and accuracy.

Your duties will include:

• Setting up and operating industrial sewing machines
• Selecting the correct thread, needles, materials and machine settings
• Sewing fabric, fire-resistant materials and leather components
• Following patterns, drawings and production instructions
• Measuring and preparing materials accurately before sewing
• Adjusting machine settings and attachments as required
• Carrying out basic machine cleaning and maintenance
• Checking stitching and finished products for quality
• Reporting any defects, thread breaks or machine issues
• Keeping track of completed work and materials
• Working to production targets while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area
• Following company quality, health & safety and AS9100 procedures

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Confident using an industrial sewing machine
• Comfortable working with different fabrics and materials
• Able to follow patterns, drawings and detailed instructions
• Accurate with good attention to detail
• Reliable and organised
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
• Able to identify quality issues and make adjustments where required
• A good team player with a positive attitude

Previous industrial sewing experience is preferred, but candidates with relevant sewing experience and transferable skills may also be considered.

Pay & Progression

Starting rate: £13.00 per hour

The starting rate will depend on your experience and performance during the skills assessment. There is scope for the rate to increase for candidates who demonstrate strong performance and successfully progress through the three-month probationary period.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm

No weekend working.

Recruitment Process

Successful applicants will usually be invited to a 10:30am practical sewing trial/skills assessment before progressing with the recruitment process.
