Sheet Metal Welder / Fabricator – Letchworth
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Sheet Metal Welder / Fabricator in Letchworth to work with stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel while producing high-quality fabricated components.
Location: Letchworth
Salary: £14.50 – £20.50 per hour, depending on experience
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week + overtime available
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Weld and fabricate stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel (1.0mm – 12mm)
- Carry out TIG and MIG welding on sub-assemblies and main assemblies
- Use fabrication jigs or complete freehand welding as required
- Manufacture assembly weld fixtures when needed
- Sand and grind components to achieve required dimensions and finish
- Support continuous improvement across production processes
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in thin-gauge TIG and MIG welding
- Strong sheet metal fabrication background
- Ability to fabricate stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual lifting
- Positive attitude with focus on quality and improvement
- City & Guilds welding/fabrication qualifications or engineering apprenticeship is advantageous
