Student Support Worker – Milton Keynes
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Student Support Worker in Milton Keynes to support pupils in Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Education Provisions.
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £14 to £18 per hour
Working Hours: Flexible supply
Job Type: Flexible supply, with potential for permanent roles

Key Responsibilities
- Support students with EHCPs and SEMH needs
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage with learning
- Help pupils stay focused and manage behaviour during lessons
- Give mentoring, encouragement, and positive role modelling
- Work closely with teaching staff to maintain a structured learning environment
- Follow safeguarding procedures and behaviour support strategies at all times
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working with young people in PRUs, alternative provision, SEN settings, or youth work
- Confidence supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or emotional needs
- A calm, resilient, and positive approach
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and student support within education settings
Newstaff is committed to safeguarding children; therefore, the successful applicant will be required to obtain an enhanced DBS, along with additional vetting checks, including reference verification. Furthermore, if you have lived outside the UK for more than six months within the past ten years, you will also need to provide an overseas police good conduct check.
