Newstaff Employment is hiring a Trainee Roller Shutter Engineer on behalf of a well-established and growing company based near Ampthill. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers while learning how to install, service, maintain, and repair roller shutter systems across the UK. Therefore, this is a fantastic opportunity for a practical and hard-working individual who wants to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term engineering career.
Location: Ampthill (Nationwide Travel Required)
Salary: £28,000 starting salary
OTE: £42,000+ with overtime
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineers with the installation and repair of roller shutter systems
- Learn fault-finding, servicing, and maintenance techniques
- Use hand and power tools safely and correctly
- Load and unload equipment and materials
- Complete job sheets and site paperwork accurately
- Travel to customer sites across the UK
- Deliver excellent customer service while on-site
- Work closely with experienced engineers to develop your skills
- Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
Essential Skills & Experience
- Practical and hands-on approach to work
- Mechanically minded with a willingness to learn
- Experience using basic hand and power tools
- Reliable, punctual, and hard-working attitude
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable travelling and staying away from home when required
- Full UK driving licence required
- Ability to travel nationwide
- Must live within approximately 40 minutes of Ampthill

- Electrical qualifications
- Previous engineering experience
Please note: These qualifications are helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided. DBS and CRC checks may also be required for certain high-security sites, including airports.
