Newstaff Employment is hiring a confident and enthusiastic Year 6 Primary Teacher in Milton Keynes to cover maternity leave from the Easter break, guiding pupils through SATs preparation and their final primary term with structure, positivity and strong academic support.
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £32,916 – £45,352 per annum (pro rata, depending on teacher pay scale and experience)
Working Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time (flexible)
Job Type: Maternity Cover (Contract)

Key Responsibilities
- Teach a Year 6 class through SATs preparation and their final term(s)
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the national curriculum
- Track progress carefully and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
- Support pupils both academically and emotionally as they prepare for secondary school
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and KS2 colleagues to maintain high standards
- Create a positive, focused classroom environment that builds confidence and resilience
Essential Skills & Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
- Strong understanding of SATs preparation and assessment frameworks
- Confident classroom management skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire pupils during a crucial academic year
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
