Newstaff Employment is recruiting an experienced HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver for waste and recycling collection work in Luton. You will drive a Class 2 refuse vehicle on designated collection routes across the local area. You will collect residential and commercial waste while working closely with refuse loaders to complete each route safely and efficiently.

Salary: £16.71 per hour
Working Hours: Early mornings and varied shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Drive HGV Class 2 refuse vehicles safely and professionally.
• Follow designated refuse collection routes across Luton.
• Collect residential and commercial waste.
• Collect and transport recycling materials.
• Work closely with refuse loaders throughout each shift.
• Ensure collections are completed safely and efficiently.
• Assist with manual handling duties when required.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks before and after each shift.
• Report vehicle defects or maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of daily collections.
• Complete required vehicle and driver documentation.
• Follow UK road traffic and transport regulations.
• Follow waste management and health and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with residents and businesses.
• Report any collection issues to the relevant team.

Essential Skills & Experience

• You hold a valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
• You have previous HGV Class 2 driving experience.
• Previous refuse, waste, or recycling collection experience would be advantageous.
• You have a safe and professional approach to driving.
• You understand relevant road safety regulations.
• You have a good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• You can work effectively with refuse loaders as part of a team.
• You are comfortable completing manual handling duties.
• You have a good level of physical fitness.
• You are reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
• You have good communication and customer service skills.
• You are comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
• You can work independently when required.
• You are flexible and comfortable with early morning starts and varied shifts.
